I first started looking into building a larger work space in July 2013. We have a fairly large, unused space in one corner of our property and I could get a fairly large shed up there. Some trees needed to be cut down and the land cleared and leveled.

But as of November it’s still an empty space. The paperwork is phenomenal. I’m still waiting for an ‘owner builders’ certificate so I can be the builder, and the end of the year is fast approaching and I fear it wont be possible to get the slab laid until next year. So I wait.

The building will be eight meters on each side and constructed from steel. There will be a side entry door and a three meter roller door on the front. I intend to line the interior with an insulated frame and plasterboard (drywall). This is to keep the temperature comfortable but mainly to save the neighbors from excessive noise.

December 28 2013.

Finally the rain stopped and work could proceed on the footings and slab.

January 9 2014

Finally the shed goes up.

And it’s done. Well, the main part is done. There is still lots of work to do. Power, insulation, storm water, skylights etc.

Painted the floor and moved over some of the benches from my old workshop at mum and dads. Still got heaps of stuff to bring over, plus a couple of new toys.
